OpenCircle Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 19, 2026

OpenCircle Men and OpenCircle Women are free, mission-driven mental health education and peer support apps. The apps do not show ads, sell personal data, or lock mental health features behind payments.

Important health and safety limits

OpenCircle is not therapy, diagnosis, medical treatment, crisis monitoring, or emergency response. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the U.S., call or text 988 for crisis support.

Data the apps may store

Depending on the features used, OpenCircle may store community check-ins submitted by the user, optional display names for community posts, moderation reports, feedback messages, optional email addresses provided for support, self-care preferences, completed care steps, energy check-ins, local blocked-author lists, and app settings.

Community and CloudKit

Community posts, moderation reports, and feedback may be stored using Apple CloudKit. Public community posts should only appear after moderator approval. Anonymous or limited display names are intended to reduce social pressure, but they should not be treated as a guarantee of legal or technical anonymity.

Apple Health

Apple Health sync is optional and read-only. If enabled, OpenCircle may read limited activity and sleep summaries from Apple Health, such as steps, active energy, exercise minutes, and recent sleep, to help the user reflect on wellness patterns.

OpenCircle does not diagnose, score mental health, sell Apple Health data, use Apple Health data for advertising, or share Apple Health data to Circle, Impact, donation partners, or app sustainability support. Apple Health data is displayed for reflection and is not intended as medical advice.

Analytics, ads, and tracking

OpenCircle is intended to be ad-free and does not sell personal data. If analytics, crash reporting, push notifications, AI moderation, or other third-party services are added in a future version, this policy should be updated before release.

Donations

Donation buttons open external partner or campaign pages in Safari. The apps do not process charitable donations inside iOS. Payment information, donor records, receipts, refunds, tax details, and external privacy practices are handled by the external organization or payment provider.

Optional app support

The Keep OpenCircle Free option may use Apple in-app purchase for optional app sustainability support. These purchases can help with app maintenance and future updates, but they do not unlock features, change community access, affect moderation, or count as mental health initiative donations.
